Such a delightful October evening, watching storms roll by and seeing the varied shades of reds, yellows and oranges with the remaining shades of green in the trees, low rumbles in the distance, and the smell of the coming rain in the strong winds blowing against my face; reminding me we are in for an exciting night of torrential downpours and light shows flashing in the sky.
I am not in California anymore, this is certain, and I don’t mean it in a bad way either.
On the contrary!
Why would such a Great and Wonderful Lord bless my family and I with this beautiful place tucked in the woods of Kentucky working a farm, after spending most of my life living in the suburbs of Southern California, only dreaming and praying to one day live in a place like this?
His sovereign will is what changed us, what moved us here, and what I am reminded of every day I wake and see this gorgeous view out my window, or while I sit on the porch rocking in a chair, soaking it in.
I cannot praise and thank Him enough for His undeserved blessings in this life, and taking the time to reminisce from where we came and where we are today is all by His grace and through that, our willingness to follow and serve Him wherever Christ would have us be is beautiful to me, because I know it can only come from the Holy Spirit.
Now, I might be painting a glowing picture of this place, that it is perfect in every way, and that our road to get here was easy, without a single mishap….This is just not true at all.
Even though I do absolutely love it, and feel as though we have stepped into a story-book landscape, it has trials and hardships of it’s own; even just getting here was a stressful one. We live in a world tainted by sin, so no place is truly perfect, and we have had our share of struggles transitioning to this lifestyle in the woods, but I can honestly say it is worth it, knowing this is where our Lord has planted us, I truly feel more at home here than I have ever felt anywhere.
I know this is where He has called my family to be!
The Lord’s timing in where He calls us varies from person to person, and family to family, but one thing has always, and forever will remain constant, is that He works ALL things for His glory, no matter where we are!
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
What a joyous truth!
No matter where the Lord has placed you in this season of your life, if your hearts desire is to follow His will and seek to “bloom where you’re planted”, using the time He has given you to bless others and strive to be content even in the waiting, praying and hoping, He will in His time bless you far beyond anything you could ever imagine by serving Him *now* and not later.
We all have trials and struggles that we face, and it is only through His strength, and knowing Who has called us to be His beloved that we can persevere, be satisfied, and at peace in every circumstance and see the fruit from our labors.
Trusting in His promises which never fail.
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
In the time the Lord has blessed me here in Kentucky already, I can see His hand in all of it, and how He has used us during this season is very exciting, and not knowing what future he holds for my family and I? Well, that we will leave in His Mighty Hands, and just savor the precious time we have here and take captive every moment for Christ.
May y’all have a blessed week!
